Schengen

Schengen is a village of a few hundred people at the point where Luxembourg, France and Germany meet on the Moselle, and it gave its name to the agreement signed there in June 1985 aboard a boat moored on the river, chosen precisely because it was a place where three borders touched. A small museum and a monument of steel columns stand by the water, along with sections of the Berlin Wall placed as part of the display.

When to go

April to October is the most comfortable. The museum is open year round with reduced winter hours. It is a short visit at any time.

Honest expectations

The village is very small and the visit is brief. The museum is modest. There is little else in the village beyond the monument and a few wine cellars.
