Black Bay is a short stretch of dark volcanic sand on Grenada's west coast south of Gouyave, reached down a track that leaves the main road with no sign on it, which is why it stays quiet when the west coast beaches nearer town do not. The sand is genuinely black, the water is calm on this leeward side, and there is nothing there at all beyond the beach itself.

When to go
December to May is the dry season. The track is difficult after heavy rain. Weekends bring a few local visitors.
Honest expectations
There are no facilities of any kind and no shade to speak of. The track down is unmarked and rough. Black sand gets extremely hot in the middle of the day.
