Clarke's Court Rum Distillery

Clarke's Court at Woodlands is the largest rum producer on Grenada, working from molasses in column stills on an estate that has been in production since the 1930s. The tour covers fermentation, distillation, the ageing store and bottling, and finishes with a tasting of the range, which runs from the strong white rum drunk locally to aged and spiced expressions. The plant is genuinely working during the visit. The estate name comes from the bay below it, which was a working anchorage long before the distillery was built, and the site has been in some form of production for far longer than the current plant.

When to go

Year round. Tours run on weekdays and stop early. Production is steadiest outside the holiday shutdowns.

Honest expectations

Tours are weekdays only and the plant sometimes runs at reduced capacity. It is an industrial site rather than a picturesque one. The tour ends in a shop.
