Rosalie Bay

Rosalie Bay is where the Rosalie river reaches the Atlantic across a beach of black sand and rounded stone, and its significance is the turtles: leatherbacks, the largest sea turtle, come ashore here to nest between March and July, along with hawksbills and greens, and a local conservation group patrols the beach through the season. The surf on this coast is heavy and the bay is for watching rather than swimming.

Good to know

Nesting is not guaranteed on any given night and watches can end with nothing. Lights and flash photography are prohibited and harm the animals. The surf makes swimming dangerous at all times.
