Sari Sari Falls

Sari Sari Falls drop some fifty metres into a deep pool in the southeast, reached by following the river up from La Plaine over boulders and through repeated crossings, and unlike Victoria Falls on the neighbouring river the water here runs clear, which makes the pool swimmable. The walk takes around forty five minutes each way and involves genuine scrambling. Guides from the village lead it and know how the route has shifted since the last storm.

What you actually see

• The tall drop - some fifty metres into a deep pool at the head of the valley.
• The clear water - a river that runs clean, unlike the sulphurous White River nearby.
• The boulder route - scrambling and crossings up the riverbed.
• The swimming pool - the deep basin at the base, cold and usable.

When to go

January to April has lower, safer water. Rain upstream raises the river quickly. Mornings avoid the worst of the afternoon showers.

Honest expectations

The riverbed route is a scramble over wet boulders and is harder than the distance suggests. Water levels rise fast after upstream rain. A village guide is strongly advised and expected.
