Kew on North Caicos is one of the oldest settlements in the Turks and Caicos, an inland village of small houses among fruit trees and stone walls with a church and the ruins of a plantation nearby. North Caicos is the greenest of the islands, wet enough to grow things the drier islands cannot, and Kew is at the middle of that country. North Caicos gets noticeably more rain than the other islands and was where much of the territory's food was grown.

What you actually see

  • The village - small houses among fruit trees and stone walls.
  • The green country - North Caicos is the wettest of the islands.
  • The church - the building at the centre of the settlement.
  • The plantation remains - the ruins in the country nearby.

When to go

December to April is the dry high season. The village is quiet year round. Mornings are cooler.

Honest expectations

There is very little for a visitor and no facilities to speak of. The village is quiet and half an hour covers it. Getting to North Caicos means a ferry from Providenciales.

Nearby

Cottage Pond is northwest, and Wades Green is nearby.
