Njupeskar

Njupeskar comes off the eastern edge of the Fulufjallet plateau in a total drop of about ninety-three metres, of which roughly seventy is unbroken free fall - the largest in the country. The stream above it is small, so the volume is modest and it reads as a thin ribbon rather than a torrent; it is height and not power that makes it. A trail of about a kilometre and a half runs from the naturum at Morkret through old forest to a viewing platform at the base, with a steeper route continuing up beside it to the plateau. In hard winters the fall freezes into a column that ice climbers use.

June to September, or February for the ice. Two to three hours.

Practical notes

Flow is modest and can be thin in late summer. The trail is rocky and rises steadily. Winter access needs proper equipment. The car park at Morkret fills in July.
