Tofsingdalen was declared in 1930 and covers about sixteen square kilometres of valley in the far north of Dalarna, and it has deliberately been left without trails, marked routes, shelters or facilities of any kind. The valley floor is filled with an enormous boulder field left by the ice, difficult and slow to cross, with old pine forest on the slopes above it and mountain birch higher. Very few people go: the combination of no road, no path and hard ground keeps numbers down to a handful in most years. Bear and lynx occur. Anyone going needs map, compass and the ability to navigate without markers.

- Very few visitors - one of the least used parks.

July to September. A full day or overnight.
Honest expectations
There are no marked routes - navigation is on you. The boulder field is genuinely hazardous with a heavy pack. No road reaches the park. Phone coverage is absent.
