Fredriksdal Museum and Gardens

Fredriksdal is built round a manor of 1787 whose owner left it to the town in 1918, and it now covers thirty-six hectares divided between an open-air museum of relocated Skane buildings - farms, a town quarter, workshops - and a botanical garden laid out to hold the wild flora of the province, which is unusual: rather than beds of exotics, sections reproduce the habitats of Skane with the plants that belong in them. There is also a rose garden with old varieties, a French formal garden at the manor, meadows cut in the traditional way and old-breed livestock. An outdoor theatre in the grounds runs a summer season.

Winter opening is minimal. It is large and involves a lot of walking. Buildings open on varying schedules. Theatre nights restrict parts of the grounds.
