When Liptovská Mara was filled in 1975 and thirteen villages went under, some of what stood in them was taken apart and moved: the museum at Pribylina holds houses, farm buildings, a school and a fire station from the drowned settlements, along with a Gothic church and a manor house from Parížovce reassembled on the site. It is the only Slovak skanzen built around rescued buildings rather than collected ones, and the Tatras stand behind it.

When to go
May to October is the main season and when buildings are open. Winter access is limited to the grounds. Weekends bring craft demonstrations.
Honest expectations
Most buildings are closed outside the summer season. Labelling is largely in Slovak. The site is exposed with little shade.
