EntrySmall fee

Sault Falls near Dennery drops around fifteen metres over a rock lip into a wide pool in a wooded bowl on Saint Lucia's east coast, reached on a short walk down from the road. The water comes off the interior highlands. It is quieter than the western falls and the pool is deep enough to swim in. The banana country of the Mabouya valley runs behind it. The name is the French for a leap or a fall, and several places on the island carry it.

What you actually see

  • The fall - around fifteen metres into a wide pool.
  • The wooded bowl - the enclosed setting the fall drops into.
  • The pool - deep enough for swimming at the base.
  • The Mabouya valley - the banana country running behind.

When to go

June to November is the wet season and the fall runs hardest. The dry season reduces it. The path is slippery after rain.

Honest expectations

Flow is much reduced in the dry season. The path down is steep and slippery. Facilities are basic and a fee is collected.

Nearby

Dennery is east, and Fond d'Or is north.
