Micoud sits on Saint Lucia's east coast, a fishing town with boats on the beach and a church above them, and it holds one of the strongest Kwéyòl traditions on the island: the La Rose flower festival in August fills the streets, and Jounen Kwéyòl in October is celebrated here as thoroughly as anywhere. The town is workaday the rest of the year with the Atlantic in front of it. The town is named after a French colonial administrator and is one of the oldest settlements on this coast.

When to go
December to April is the dry season. La Rose falls in August and Jounen Kwéyòl in October. The town is quiet outside festivals.
Honest expectations
There is little for a visitor outside festival times. Facilities are basic. The east coast surf makes swimming here unwise.
