Luquillo has two things: a long crescent of palm-backed sand facing a reef-protected bay, calm and one of the better public beaches on the island, and behind it on the highway a strip of around sixty numbered kiosks selling food, running from fried snacks and alcapurrias to full seafood restaurants and bars. The kiosks are as much the destination as the beach, and many people come for them alone. El Yunque rises directly behind.

When to go
December to April is the drier season. Weekends and holidays fill both the beach and the kiosks. Kiosks run into the evening, later than the beach.
Honest expectations
Weekend crowds are heavy and parking fills. Kiosk quality varies enormously between numbers and the busy ones are busy for a reason. The beach can have seaweed depending on the season.
