The Anne Frank House

The house at Prinsengracht 263 was a business premises with a warehouse below and offices in front. Behind it, reached through a doorway later hidden by a hinged bookcase, is the annexe where eight people lived in hiding for just over two years in the 1940s, and where Anne Frank wrote the diary that was published in 1947. The rooms are kept unfurnished, as they were found; the original diary notebooks are displayed in the museum wing added alongside.
