Anse Céron

Anse Céron lies at the end of the northwestern coast road beyond Le Prêcheur, a beach of black volcanic sand with the forest coming down almost to the water behind it and Îlet la Perle, a rock islet, standing offshore. A stream runs out across the sand. The islet is a dive site and the water off the beach can be snorkelled. Shade from the trees behind is unusually good for a Caribbean beach.

When to go

December to April is calmest. Swell on this coast can be heavy in winter. Weekends bring local families.

Good to know

Currents off this coast can be strong and swimming needs care. The road out is long, narrow and winding. Facilities are minimal, with a snack van at best.
