Habitation Céron

Habitation Céron has worked the same ground since the seventeenth century, first as a sugar estate and now growing cocoa and running a restaurant in the old buildings, and its best known feature is a zamana, a rain tree, whose crown spreads over an area often cited as among the largest in the Lesser Antilles. Crayfish are raised in the estate's stream and served at the tables. The old water wheel and sugar works stand in the grounds.

When to go

Year round; the restaurant runs at lunch and booking is advised. Mornings are cooler for the grounds. It closes on some days.

Things to know

The restaurant is expensive and needs booking well ahead. Grounds are modest in extent and an hour covers them. The road in is narrow.
