Domaine d'Émeraude

The Domaine d'Émeraude sits on the Route de la Trace at Morne-Rouge, on the southern flank of Mount Pelée, and it functions as the interpretation centre for the island's natural park: exhibitions on the forest, the volcano and the island's ecology, with a garden and short trails through planted and natural woodland outside. It is designed as the place to understand the northern forests before walking in them.

When to go

December to April is drier for the outdoor sections. It closes on some days of the week. Rain is frequent at this altitude in any season.

What to expect

The outdoor sections are wet and muddy much of the year. Interpretation is almost entirely in French. Opening days are limited and change.
