The Domaine d'Émeraude sits on the Route de la Trace at Morne-Rouge, on the southern flank of Mount Pelée, and it functions as the interpretation centre for the island's natural park: exhibitions on the forest, the volcano and the island's ecology, with a garden and short trails through planted and natural woodland outside. It is designed as the place to understand the northern forests before walking in them.
