The Liechtenstein Trail is a walking route of around seventy five kilometres that passes through all eleven municipalities of the country, put together for the tercentenary in 2019 by linking existing paths, and an app keyed to points along it explains what you are looking at. It runs from the Rhine plain up through the villages onto the terraces and back, and can be walked in sections or as a whole.

What you actually see

  • The eleven municipalities - a route touching every part of the country.
  • The seventy five kilometres - the full circuit through plain and terrace.
  • The interpretation points - the app-linked stops along the route.
  • The 2019 origin - a trail assembled for the country's tercentenary.

When to go

May to October is the walking season. Sections at altitude hold snow into spring. Public transport makes section walking easy.

Honest expectations

Much of the route follows roads and paths through built-up areas rather than wilderness. The app is central to the concept and less useful without it. It is a country walk rather than a mountain one.

Nearby

Vaduz is on the route, as are all eleven municipalities.
