Devil's Hole
A collapsed sea cave on the north coast, viewed from a platform at the end of a path.

Devil's Hole is a sea cave on the north coast whose roof collapsed, leaving a crater about thirty metres deep connected to the sea by a tunnel through which the swell surges and booms. A path runs down from the car park to a viewing platform at the rim. A carved figure of a devil stands beside the path, the descendant of a figurehead washed up from a wreck in 1851 and set up by a local sculptor.

When to go
May to September is the pleasant season, though the surge is strongest in winter swell. The path is slippery when wet. An hour covers it.
Good to know
On a calm day the surge does very little. The path down is steep and slippery. The site is small and the walk back up is the harder part.
