Pallot Steam Museum

Don Pallot, a Jersey engineer, spent decades collecting steam engines, traction engines, agricultural machinery and organs, and the museum built around the collection in Trinity keeps most of it in working order. A short standard gauge railway runs on the site with a steam locomotive hauling restored Victorian carriages on operating days, which gives the island a working steam train despite the railways having closed in the 1930s. Pallot also invented and patented agricultural machinery of his own, some of which is in the collection alongside the equipment he restored.

When to go

April to October is the open season. Steam operates only on certain days, usually Thursdays. It closes for the winter.

Honest expectations

Steam runs only on specific days and the railway does not operate otherwise. It closes entirely in winter. The collection is dense and interpretation is informal.
