Getting thereNorthern Evia near Drymona village above Rovies; car, then a short path
EntryFree

The Drymona falls lie in the wooded hills above the Evian Gulf, where a stream drops in two stages into a pool held between mossy rocks under chestnut and plane trees. The walk in is short and easy, ten to fifteen minutes on a made path from the parking area, which makes this one of the most accessible waterfalls in central Greece; a wooden bridge crosses below the fall and a taverna operates in the clearing in season. The water is cold and shallow, more for paddling than swimming. The surrounding hills of northern Evia carry chestnut and pine forest, badly burned in the fires of 2021 in some areas, and the recovery is visible on the drive up from the coast at Rovies.

What you actually see

  • The two-stage fall - water dropping into a green pool under trees.
  • The wooden bridge - a crossing below the falls in the clearing.
  • The chestnut woods - shaded forest along the approach path.
  • The gulf views - the Evian Gulf on the drive up from the coast.

When to go

Spring for the strongest flow after winter rain; by late summer the fall can thin to a trickle. Autumn brings colour to the chestnuts. Winter access is possible but the path is slippery.

Honest expectations

The fall is modest in scale and can disappoint after August. The site is popular with Greek families at weekends and the small clearing fills. Fire damage is visible in parts of the surrounding forest.

Nearby

Rovies and the coast lie below; Aidipsos and its thermal springs are north.
