Kocusa Waterfall

The Trebizat drops over a travertine barrier at Veljaci in a fall around fifty metres wide and only a few metres high, water spreading evenly across the whole width over moss and tufa into a shallow pool, which makes it a different proposition from Kravice downstream: lower, wider and far less visited. Old mill buildings stand beside it and a restaurant operates on the bank. The pool is used for swimming and the shallow water and the low drop make it easier for families than the bigger falls. The Trebizat carries travertine in solution and the barrier is still growing, which is why the whole river has this stepped character.

When to go

May to September for swimming; flow is strongest in spring and drops in late summer. Weekdays are quiet; weekends bring local visitors. Kravice takes most of the tourist traffic.

Honest expectations

The fall is low and lacks the drama of Kravice nearby. Flow reduces considerably by late summer. Facilities are a restaurant and parking. The pool is shallow and rocky underfoot.
