Tagbo Falls

Tagbo Falls drops around sixty metres into a pool in forest at the foot of the Agumatsa range, a walk of about forty minutes from Liati Wote along a path through cocoa farms, banana and then closed forest, crossing the stream several times. The pool is cold and swimmable, and the site is quieter than Wli further north, with the same community-run guiding arrangement as the Afadja climb. Butterflies are abundant along the path in the wetter months. Most visitors do the falls and the mountain in a single day from the village, which has a small guesthouse. The community project charges an entry and guide fee that funds forest protection in the area.

When to go

Flow is strongest from June to October in the rains, but the path is muddiest then. November to March gives easier walking and a weaker fall. Mornings are cooler.

Honest expectations

The fall drops to a trickle late in the dry season. The path involves stream crossings that are wet-footed after rain. Guides are compulsory and fees are per person. Facilities at the site are minimal.
