Bwa Nef Falls

Bwa Nef falls in a thin ribbon down a high rock face in a narrow valley in the far north, and getting to it involves a descent through overgrown forest with a fixed rope on the steepest section, followed by a walk up the streambed. Very few people go. The valley is enclosed enough that the falls are in shade most of the day. A local guide is required rather than recommended, since the route is unmarked and shifts after storms.

When to go

December to April is drier and the descent is safer. Rain makes the rope section dangerous. Mornings avoid the afternoon showers.

Honest expectations

The descent is steep with a rope and is not suitable for anyone unsteady. The trail is unmarked and a guide is genuinely required. Storms repeatedly damage the route.
