Island Harbour on Anguilla's northeastern coast is where the island's fishing fleet works from, brightly painted boats drawn up on the sand and moored in the sheltered bay, and the community here has fished for generations with lobster the main catch. The racing boats Anguillians build are made in this area too. A short boat run goes out to Scilly Cay in the middle of the bay.

What you actually see

  • The painted boats - the fishing fleet drawn up and moored in the bay.
  • The lobster trade - the catch the village works on.
  • The boat building - the racing craft made in this part of the island.
  • The Scilly Cay run - the short crossing to the cay in the bay.

When to go

December to April is the dry season and high season. Landings happen through the day. Hurricane season runs June to November.

Honest expectations

It is a working village rather than a resort, with limited facilities. Scilly Cay operates only on certain days. Photography of fishermen should be asked for.

Nearby

Scilly Cay is offshore, and Shoal Bay East is west.
