Tobacco Museum

Tobacco was grown in Andorra from the eighteenth century and became the backbone of the economy before tourism and banking replaced it, and the museum occupies the former Reig factory in Sant Julià with its machinery in place: the sorting rooms, the presses, the cutting and rolling machines and the drying sheds, along with the story of how a crop grown on small terraced plots supported the country and fed a substantial contraband trade.

When to go

Year round; the museum keeps daytime hours and closes some days. Winter hours are reduced. An hour or two covers it.

Honest expectations

It closes on some days and hours are reduced in winter. Labelling is mostly in Catalan and Spanish. The subject is narrow and will not hold everyone.
