The Dragon Bridge opened in 2013 across the Han river in Da Nang, carrying six lanes of traffic inside a steel structure formed as a dragon in the Ly dynasty manner, with the head raised at the eastern end. It is lit at night by thousands of LEDs that change colour, and on Saturday and Sunday evenings at nine the head emits jets of fire and then water, which draws crowds to both banks and to the roadside. The engineering was done with an American firm and the bridge has won design awards. It is a piece of civic showmanship, deliberately, and Da Nang has built several other lit bridges since.

Honest expectations
The show lasts a few minutes and the crowds and traffic around it are heavy. Standing on the bridge during it gets you wet. There is nothing to see by day beyond a road bridge.
