Cascade de Womé

The Womé cascade drops through a wooded valley near Kpalimé, water coming down a rock face into a pool that is deep enough to swim in, reached on a short walk from the village at the end of the track. Cocoa and coffee are grown on the slopes around. It is the more reliable of the two falls near Kpalimé because it is not affected by the hydroelectric diversion that takes Kpimé's water. The Plateaux region holds most of Togo's remaining forest, which is why the falls here run through trees rather than open ground.

When to go

July to October is the wet season and the fall runs hardest. The dry season reduces it considerably. The path is slippery after rain.

What to expect

Flow drops noticeably in the dry season. A village fee is collected and guides expect payment. Facilities are none.
