EntryFree; marina and resort facilities charged

Anse Marcel is a deep bay in the northeast of the French side, almost enclosed by hills with a marina cut into the back of it and a beach at the head, which makes the water flat and the setting more sheltered than anywhere else on the island. Trails run over the hills from here to Petites Cayes and along the Froussards path. Resorts occupy much of the frontage.

What you actually see

  • The enclosed bay - hills closing the water on three sides.
  • The marina - the harbour cut into the back of the bay.
  • The beach - the sand at the head of the inlet.
  • The trailhead - the start of the walks to Petites Cayes and beyond.

When to go

December to April is the high season. Hurricane season runs June to November. The bay is sheltered in almost any conditions.

Honest expectations

Resorts occupy most of the frontage and public access is through them in places. Hurricane Irma damage took years to repair and some of it is ongoing. Parking is limited.

Nearby

Petites Cayes is northwest, and Grand Case is west.
