Caye Verte

Caye Verte, Green Key, is an uninhabited islet off Saint Martin's northeastern coast within the national nature reserve, a low rock with scrub and a small beach, reef around it and seabirds nesting on the higher ground. Landing is restricted to protect the nesting and the vegetation, and most visits are boat trips that snorkel the surrounding water rather than going ashore. The reserve covers around three thousand hectares of land and water across the French side of the island.

When to go

December to April is the high season and calmest. Landing is restricted during seabird nesting. Hurricane season runs June to November.

Landing is restricted and often not permitted; most trips stay on the water. Boats must be arranged and are cancelled in swell. There are no facilities on the islet.
