Sandy Cay is a few hectares of sand and scrub off Jost Van Dyke, uninhabited, with a beach around most of its edge and a short loop trail through the low vegetation in the middle. It was owned by Laurance Rockefeller, who planted and maintained it, and was given to the territory as a national park in 2008. Yachts anchor off and go in by dinghy. There is nothing on it at all, which is the appeal.

When to go
December to May is the calmest for landing. Swell makes the dinghy landing difficult. Hurricane season runs June to November.
Honest expectations
There is no water, shade or facility of any kind; everything must be carried in and out. Landing depends on the swell. It fills with day boats at midday.
