Sarraméa lies in a valley inland from La Foa, greener and wetter than the dry west coast below it, with coffee once grown on the slopes and forest running up to the ridges behind. The Trou Feuillet, a pool on the river where the water gathers under trees, is the place people come to swim, and walking trails run from the village into the surrounding hills. It is quiet, small and a short drive from the main road.

What you actually see

  • The Trou Feuillet - the river pool under trees where people swim.
  • The green valley - country noticeably wetter than the coast below.
  • The forest trails - walking routes from the village into the hills.
  • The coffee history - the crop once grown on the surrounding slopes.

When to go

April to November is the drier season with better walking. The river runs strongest after rain. Weekends bring visitors from the coast.

Honest expectations

The village is very small with almost no facilities. The pool is modest and crowded at weekends. Trails are unmarked in places.

Nearby

La Foa is downhill, and Parc des Grandes Fougères is north.
