Cheoc Van is a small bay on the southern side of Coloane, enclosed by wooded headlands, with a short beach of dark sand, a public swimming pool on the terrace above and a yacht club at one end. It is the quieter and smaller of Coloane's two beaches. Trails from the road above run into the hills of the Coloane country park, and a Portuguese restaurant on the slope has been there for decades.

When to go
June to September is warm enough for swimming. October to December is dry and cool but the water is cold. Weekends are busiest.
Honest expectations
The water is silty from the Pearl River delta and is not clear. The beach is small and fills at weekends. Swimming quality is sometimes poor and is posted.
