Green Island was built out into the Gulf off Kuwait City's waterfront in the 1980s, an artificial island of around eighty thousand square metres planted with several thousand trees and laid out with lawns, an amphitheatre, a lagoon and a walkway around the perimeter. It was one of the first projects of its kind in the region and it gives the city something green on a coast that has very little. The island was among the first artificial islands built for public use anywhere in the Gulf.

When to go
November to March is the comfortable season. Evenings are when it is busiest. Summer heat makes the island unusable during the day.
Honest expectations
The island has been through closures and refurbishment and its condition has varied. It is small and half a day covers it. Summer daytime heat makes it impractical.
Nearby
Kuwait Towers are north, and the corniche runs both ways.
