At Radavc north of Peja the White Drin emerges from a cave in the cliff face and immediately drops some twenty five metres into a pool, so the source of the river and its first waterfall are the same place. The cliff behind is limestone and the flow depends heavily on the season, running hard with snowmelt in spring and dropping considerably by late summer. Paths and a small park surround it.
What you actually see
- The cave source - the river emerging directly out of the cliff.
- The fall - a drop of around twenty five metres immediately below the source.
- The limestone cliff - the rock face the water comes out of.
- The pool - the basin at the base of the fall.
When to go
April to June is when snowmelt gives the strongest flow. By late summer the fall is much reduced. Winter can freeze parts of it.
Honest expectations
Flow drops a lot in late summer and the fall can be disappointing then. Facilities are basic and a fee is collected. Weekends bring local crowds.
