Leqinat sits in a cirque in the Rugova mountains above the Kuqishtë valley, a small glacial lake at around eighteen hundred metres surrounded by pasture and beech, reached on a walk of around an hour from where the road ends. Shepherds bring flocks up to the surrounding meadows in summer. The Peaks of the Balkans route passes above, and the lake is one of the standard day walks from Rugova.

When to go
June to September is the season; snow lies here into early summer. Autumn colour in the beech is good in October. Winter access needs proper equipment.
Honest expectations
The lake is small and shrinks noticeably by late summer. The track to the road end is rough. Trail marking is inconsistent.
