At Ma'in, hot mineral water rises from the ground and falls down the wall of a gorge running towards the Dead Sea, in a series of cascades at around forty five to sixty degrees that people stand under. The site sits well below sea level and the road down from the Madaba plateau drops sharply. A resort occupies part of the gorge and controls access to the main falls, with a public section available separately.

When to go
October to April is the comfortable season; the gorge is extremely hot in summer. Weekends are busy. The resort and public sections keep different hours.
Honest expectations
Access to the main falls is controlled by the resort and charged accordingly. The public section is more basic and crowded. Water temperature at the hottest falls can scald.
