Blue Hole Mineral Spring

The Blue Hole at Brighton is a limestone sinkhole about eight metres across at the surface, dropping into water that is clear, cold and reported to be around twenty metres deep, with the sides overhanging so that the pool widens below. A ladder goes down and most people jump from the rim. A small bar, a swimming pool and a restaurant have grown around it, and the site now operates as a commercial attraction.

When to go

December to April is the drier season and the track is easier. Weekends bring crowds. The water is cold year round.

Practical notes

The jump is around eight metres and people have been injured; the ladder is the alternative. Access charges have risen sharply and are high for what is there. The track in is rough.
