EntrySmall fee

The Voile de la Mariée, the bride's veil, drops near Kindia over a wide rock lip so the water spreads thin across the face rather than falling in a column, which is where the name comes from. It is the most accessible substantial fall from Conakry, a couple of hours out on the Kindia road, and it gets weekend traffic from the capital accordingly. A pool sits at the base.

What you actually see

  • The spread of water - the fall thinning across the rock face like a veil.
  • The wide lip - the ledge the river comes over.
  • The base pool - the basin below the fall.
  • The accessibility - the closest real waterfall to Conakry.

When to go

July to October is the wet season and the fall is at its fullest. By the end of the dry season it is much reduced. Weekends bring crowds from Conakry.

Honest expectations

Flow drops sharply in the dry season and the veil effect largely disappears. It gets crowded and littered at weekends. Facilities are basic and a fee is collected.

Nearby

Kindia is nearby, and Conakry is southwest.
