Pleinmont is the southwestern corner of Guernsey, high cliff and gorse with paths running along the top and the Hanois lighthouse standing offshore. On the headland is the Fairy Ring, a low circle of stones on the turf that islanders have long associated with luck and with wishes made walking round it, and the German observation tower from the occupation years stands nearby, restored and open on set days.

When to go
April to October is the season for the cliff paths and the tower's opening days. Gorse flowers through much of the year. Winter winds here are severe.
Honest expectations
The tower opens only on limited days and hours. Cliff paths are exposed with drops and are not for children unwatched. The Fairy Ring is modest and easy to walk past.
