Moulin Huet Bay

Moulin Huet is a small bay on Guernsey's south coast enclosed by cliffs, with rock stacks offshore and a stony beach at the bottom of a steep path through a wooded valley. Renoir spent a month on Guernsey in 1883 and painted this bay repeatedly, and a marked trail with reproductions now points out the exact viewpoints he used. A tea room operates above the descent in season.

When to go

April to October is the season and the tea room's window. Low tide exposes considerably more beach. Winter closes the tea room and makes the path slippery.

Before you go

The path down is steep and the climb back is hard work. The beach is stony rather than sand and mostly covered at high tide. Parking at the top is limited.
