Sausmarez Manor at St Martin has been in the same family for centuries and is still lived in, a Queen Anne house of 1714 built on much older fabric, shown on guided tours through the panelled rooms. The grounds hold a subtropical woodland garden, a sculpture park with several hundred pieces set among the trees, a ride-on railway and a Saturday farmers market.

What you actually see

  • The Queen Anne house - the 1714 front on considerably older fabric.
  • The sculpture park - several hundred works set through the woodland.
  • The subtropical garden - the planted valley behind the house.
  • The Saturday market - the farmers market held in the grounds.

When to go

April to October is the main season; house tours run on set days. The Saturday market runs through much of the year. Winter closes most of the operation.

Honest expectations

House tours run only on certain days and times, so a wasted trip is possible. The separate sections each charge. The sculpture park is uneven in quality and maintenance.

Nearby

La Gran'mere is at the church nearby, and Moulin Huet is south.
