The Seven Sisters, also called St Margaret's, is a run of falls stepping down through the rainforest in the Grand Etang reserve, with pools between them that can be swum and jumped into. The walk in from the road takes around forty five minutes on a path that is muddy in almost all conditions and steep in places. Only the lower two falls are usually visited; reaching the upper ones means scrambling.

What you actually see

  • The stepped falls - a chain dropping down through the forest.
  • The pools - basins between the falls deep enough to swim and jump.
  • The forest walk - forty five minutes through rainforest to reach them.
  • The upper section - the further falls, reached only by scrambling.

When to go

January to May is drier and the path is more manageable. Flow is strongest in the wet season. Rain makes the descent genuinely dangerous.

Honest expectations

The path is steep and very muddy and proper footwear is essential. A guide is effectively necessary because the route is unmarked. Jumping into the pools has caused injuries.

Nearby

Grand Etang is west, and Grenville is northeast.
