The Iladyi, or Ilachi, cascades drop in a long fall on Bioko's southern side, water coming off the massif through forest in a series of steps with the highest section running a considerable distance down bare rock. It is generally described as the tallest fall on the island. The approach is a rough track and then a walk through forest, and it is far less visited than the north of Bioko.

What you actually see

  • The main drop - the long fall down bare rock through the forest.
  • The stepped sections - the smaller falls above and below the main drop.
  • The southern forest - the wetter, less disturbed side of the island.
  • The approach walk - the route in through forest from the track end.

When to go

December to February is the drier season and the practical window. Flow is heaviest in the wet months when access is worst. Cloud is frequent.

Honest expectations

The track in is rough and the walk is muddy and steep. A guide is necessary and permits may be required. There are no facilities.

Nearby

Moaba is nearby, and Ureca is southwest.
