Horseshoe Bay is the beach Bermuda puts on its posters: a wide curve of sand between limestone headlands on the south shore, the sand tinted pink by crushed shell and coral fragments carried in from the reef. It has a lifeguard in season, a beach café, changing rooms and the largest car park of any Bermudian beach, which is why it is also the busiest. Baby Beach and Port Royal Cove next door are smaller and sheltered.

When to go
May to October is the swimming season with a lifeguard on duty. Cruise ship days fill it completely. Hurricane season runs June to November and brings swell.
Honest expectations
It is by far the busiest beach on the island and cruise days make it very crowded. Surf on the south shore can be strong and the undertow real. Parking fills early in season.
