Rendezvous Bay

Rendezvous Bay sweeps along Anguilla's southwestern coast for around three kilometres, facing south across the channel to the hills of Saint Martin, which are close enough to read clearly. The sand is soft and the water shallow and calm. A couple of beach bars operate on it, including one long associated with Anguillian music. It is one of the island's quieter long beaches. The bay was the landing point for a French force in the eighteenth century, which is part of why it appears in the island's early records. Its length means the eastern end is usually deserted even when the western end has people on it.

• The Saint Martin view - the neighbouring island's hills across the channel.
• The long curve - around three kilometres of soft sand.
• The shallow water - calm conditions running well out from shore.
• The beach bars - the few places operating along the back.

When to go

December to April is the dry season and high season. Hurricane season runs June to November. Sunsets over the channel are the evening draw.

Honest expectations

Facilities are sparse along most of the bay. Sargassum affects parts in some seasons. The road access at some points is rough.
