Les Bons

Les Bons stands on a rock outcrop above Encamp, a small group of stone houses with the chapel of Sant Romà, a Romanesque building whose apse was painted in the twelfth century, and the remains of a tower and walls from a fortified house that once controlled the valley below. The position is the point: the rock drops away and the whole of Encamp and the road up the valley are laid out beneath.

When to go

May to October is the pleasant season. The chapel is locked outside guided visits. Winter makes the walk up icy.

The chapel is usually locked and access is by guided visit. The paintings are reproductions; the originals were removed. The walk up is short but steep.
