Comapedrosa Valleys Natural Park

The Comapedrosa park covers the northwestern corner of Andorra above Arinsal, some fifteen hundred hectares of high valleys, glacial lakes and ridges running up to Comapedrosa itself at 2,942 metres, the highest point in the country. A refuge sits below the summit and the climb from Arinsal takes most of a day. Marmots, izards and golden eagles use the park, and the lakes hold trout. The park was created in 2006 and adjoins protected land across the Spanish border, so the high country continues under protection on both sides of the ridge.

When to go

June to September is the walking season once the snow has gone. Snow lingers on the upper slopes into July. Winter is for ski touring only.

Before you go

The climb to the summit is long and the upper section is loose scree. Weather changes fast at this altitude. The refuge is small and must be booked.
