Canillo Tibetan Bridge

The Tibetan bridge at Canillo runs 603 metres across the valley of the Riu de Montaup hanging up to around a hundred and sixty metres above the valley floor, opened in 2022 and claimed as the longest bridge of its type in Europe. It is a walkway of steel mesh with cable handrails, so the ground is visible the whole way across, and a viewing platform sits partway along it.

When to go

May to October is the main season. It closes in high wind and in winter conditions. Booking a time slot is advised in summer.

Honest expectations

It closes in high wind, which happens often, and slots are non-refundable in some cases. Anyone uneasy with heights will find the mesh deck very difficult. It gets busy in August and slots sell out.
