Ky Co Beach

Ky Co is a small bay on the seaward side of the Phuong Mai peninsula north of Quy Nhon, backed by granite boulders and headlands with water clear enough to see the bottom well out - a combination that is unusual on this coast and that made it known within Vietnam over the last decade. Access is either a fifteen minute boat from Nhon Ly village or a very steep concrete road cut down the cliff, both of which are charged. Development at the cove has followed the attention: platforms, restaurants, jet skis and a managed beach area, which has changed it considerably from the fishing cove it was.

When to go

March to August; the monsoon closes it from about September. A full day.

Honest expectations

Everything is charged separately - access, sunbeds, activities - and it adds up. It is crowded in the domestic season. Jet skis and noise are part of the current experience. The cliff road is genuinely steep.
